Mixed Roses in a Blue Vase, 16x20, oil on linen
For those of you who have reminded me that I haven't done a floral in quite a while- here goes.
The mixed roses and scattered daisies are complimented by the luscious fruits and the blue vase is enhanced by the complimentary colors in the roses and peaches.

Garden Tryst, After Monet's Garden at Argenteuil
This was one of the paintings that I did in a dark dreary hotel room in Atlanta this past summer. This week I finally had a chance to evaluate it and I knew that it needed a lot of work. So I worked on it yesterday, and now I think it's turned into one of my favorite paintings! I like the way the couple in the background melts into the scene without disturbing it, creating a little mystery. The garden is after Monet's garden at Argenteuil, from which he composed dozens of paintings, including "Corner of the Garden with Dahlias", which this was patterned after. Once again, my intention was to keep it my own, using my own palette and employing a palette knife rather then a brush.
Please go here if you wish to bid on the painting.
