What's a blog?

A blog is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order. Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.
What's a user?

A user (or member) is any individual user ID or login. Each login can have an unlimited number of blogs or photoblogs. So if you register 10 members, each member can have dozens of individual blogs according to their individual needs.
What is 21Publish?

21Publish is an innovative and unique service for organizations and groups who would like to discover and exploit the potential of blogs. 21Publish enables you to start your own branded blog community for your group of users without any installation or programming knowledge.
What differentiates 21Publish from other blogs services?

Most other services mainly offer blogs for individuals not for groups. With 21Publish you can become a blog host yourself in minutes. 21Publish is specifically designed to be used as a community publishing network. The administration panel allows central control over the whole network.
How does it work?

As a hosted application, 21Publish is very easy to use. There's no software to install, no maintenance and no updates required at your end. With a few clicks you can set up and run your own personal BlogPortal and invite others to join in.

Every blog community consists of two layers: The first layer is your BlogPortal or community homepage where users can register and login, find new blog entries or community news. The second layer consists of all of the individual blogs of the community members.
What does 21Publish cost?

21Publish is a FREE SERVICE for communities of up to 100 users providing 2MB of webspace for each of these 100 accounts.

Beyond the FREE SERVICE we offer on-demand upgrade options so your blog community can grow with your needs. Prices depend on three factors:
- The number of users that you plan to allow their own blog on your BlogPortal?
- How much web space each user needs
- If you allow us to place advertising on your user blogs or not

Why do I need 21Publish?

21Publish is the easiest way to set up and manage your own private-labeled multi-user blog solution.
How can I use mydomain.com?

There are two options:

The first and simplest option - domain mapping. To enable this service you simply have to set the IP address (under "DNS setting") of the 21Publish server as "A-record" with your domain registrar. You will reach your BlogPortal http://www.mydomain.com and your blogs can be reached under http://www.mydomain.com/user1.

Alternatively you give your server your own name and follow the settings procedure described above. In that case you may also enlist subdomains (i.e. http://user1.mydomain.com) and direct each of these domains to the 21Publish server. Users can then use the sub domain instead of the directory name (i.e. http://www.mydomain.com/user1) too.

Please make sure you have properly set up your domain name in your 21Publish Administration section and make sure there are no spelling errors.

Please note: To use your own domain you need to upgrade as this feature is not available in free BlogPortals.
Can I use my own design?

21Publish provides you with a rich selection of pre-formatted template designs. Alternatively you can customize your portal pages and change the blog templates used by your members to meet your design expectations, or match your corporate design.

21Publish templates can be changed by adding pictures, changing colors, customizing the navigation bar and much more. With basic CSS knowledge you will be able to personalize your BlogPortal even more — just try it.
How can I integrate my BlogPortal into an existing website?

The easiest way to do this is to add an additional link to your new BlogPortal in your existing navigation. Additionally you may add sub-menus for navigating your own BlogPortal. The sub-menus are dynamically generated and therefore very easy to maintain.
Do registered members of my community have to register again?

Not necessarily — while it can be an effective way to invite only new and unregistered users you may also manually register members in your member administration area. If you wish to import member data on a bigger scale, we are happy to provide you a customized solution.

Can I switch between different accounts?

Of course — if you would like to switch to an account with more or fewer users you can always easily change your package size.
